During the spring months the United Kingdom becomes home to a number of beautiful animals. Whether they are returning to the surface after hibernation, or perhaps they are flying across the skies to migrate, there are many animals that we may not see at other times of the year making an appearance. In this blog we will be discussing some of the animals you may be able to spot during spring and how Lawson’s can help you take care of them.

Birds

There are many migratory birds which return to the UK during spring, and it is always wonderful to see them reappear in our skies. Some of the birds you can expect to see in spring include:

  • Cuckoos
  • Nightjars
  • Ospreys
  • Turtle doves
  • Swallows
  • Warblers
  • Martins
  • Yellow wagtails

Here at Lawson’s, we offer a range of bird food and products available to ensure these feathery friends can stay fed and healthy. From Split Peanuts and Bag of Nuts to a range of Country Wide products, we offer food for all kinds of birds. We also encourage you to purchase one of our fantastic feeders to complete the experience. You can choose from the Nature’s Feast Royal Squirrel Proof Peanut Feeder and the Supa Kent Peanut Feeder.

Other Animals

Only three mammals in the UK hibernate, hedgehogs, dormice, and bats. They stay in hibernation from October/November time until around March or April depending on how quickly temperature drops and picks back up.

Many other species also hibernate including insects like ladybirds, butterflies, and bumblebees.

If you happen to stumble upon any of these sleeping creatures, don’t be alarmed. The best thing to do in this situation is to leave them be and to wake up in their own time as they know what is best for them.

From hamster to horse – at Lawson Animal Feeds, we also offer products for many other furry friends including, dogs, cats, horses, poultry and many other small animals.
